The CIconButton CDEF is a custom control definition procedure that allows developers to elegantly and simply included "icon buttons" in their applications. These icon buttons are built from one or more standard 'cicn' resources. The CDEF works under System 6 & 7, is sensitive to multiple monitors and monitor depths, and works with or without Color Quickdraw. Mouse tracking can be sensitive to the cicn mask for non-rectangular controls.
Two versions of the CIconButton CDEF are included: the standard one, and a "lite" one that is slightly slower but more memory efficient. The "CIconButton 1.0.Doc" file includes a detailed explanation of the CDEF features; most of that document is also available as on-line help from within the demo application. Sample code in THINK Pascal and THINK C is provided.
DigitalPaper™ Documentation

The documentation for the CIconButton CDEF is distributed in an electronic paper format called DigitalPaper™, produced by Common Ground 1.0. The current MiniViewer cannot display color documents on older Macs (e.g. SE/Plus). The forthcoming Standalone MiniViewer, which should be freely available on on-line services by December 1993, will support this feature. Until then, SE/Plus users will need to use the on-line documentation available in the About box of the CIconButton Demo App.
DoubleTrouble Warning: there is a problem with the Common Ground MiniViewer that occasionaly disposes handles twice. This tends to be harmless, but will trigger DoubleTrouble if you have it installed. No Hands software is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.
